About Hovia

Built for treasurers, coordinators, and the groups they serve

Hovia exists because managing a group's money by spreadsheet or notebook doesn't scale — and every member deserves a clear, always-available record of where things stand.

Hovia started with a simple observation: Benevolence funds, investment clubs, and SACCOs all do the same core work — collecting contributions, tracking balances, and keeping members informed — but almost always end up managing it with tools built for something else entirely.

So we built a platform around that core work directly. A Group Admin can post a transaction, attach a receipt, and see a member's full history in seconds. A member can log in from their phone and see exactly where their contributions stand, without calling the treasurer. And for organizations managing several groups, a Master Admin gets a single dashboard over all of it.

Underneath, every record lives on a real server — not in one person's browser storage — so the group's data survives a lost phone, a new treasurer, or a change in leadership. That continuity is the whole point.

How It's Organized

Three portals, one shared record

Member Portal

Every member gets their own login to view their profile, post contributions, and track their transaction history.

Admin Dashboard

Group Admins manage members, post and review transactions, and oversee projects for their own group.

Master Admin

Full oversight across every group — for organizations coordinating multiple Benevolence, Investment, or SACCO groups at once.

What We Care About

Transparency and accountability, by default

Transparency

Members can see their own record at any time — no waiting on a treasurer to reply.

Accountability

Every login, edit, and deletion is tracked in an audit trail, so there's always a record of what happened.

Security

Role-based access means members, admins, and the master admin each see only what's theirs to see.

For Benevolence Funds

Group management made simple for benevolence groups

Benevolence groups do important work. When a member loses a loved one, falls ill, or faces a crisis, the group comes together, and that depends on trust. But that trust gets tested when records live in notebooks, spreadsheets and long WhatsApp threads. Who has paid for this bereavement? Who is behind? Where did last month's contributions go? Hovia is built to answer those questions instantly. It gives your group one secure, online home where every contribution is recorded, every member can see their own standing, and every admin action is logged.

Hovia fits the way benevolence groups already work. Admins set up a project/case for each cause, such as a funeral, a medical emergency or an annual welfare fund. With auto-post turned on, Hovia charges every active member their share in one step, so nobody has to enter it member by member. Larger groups can split members into subgroups by family, region, church cell or chapter, then direct a charge to just the people it applies to. Members can also remit funds on account, building up a credit balance that Hovia draws down automatically when the next charge is posted, so nobody gets chased for money they've already paid.

When a need is urgent, members can send their contribution directly to the beneficiary, such as a bereaved family or a hospital, with no need to route the money through the group. Each project/case lists the beneficiary's own Venmo, Cash App or Zelle details. The member pays, then forwards the send confirmation to the group's dedicated WhatsApp number. Hovia reads the screenshot, checks that the money went to the right person, and records it against the member's account. The beneficiary then gets temporary, secure access that shows only the payments sent to them for that cause. They confirm each one as received, or flag one that never arrived, and that access ends automatically when the need has passed. Every payment is counted, the family confirms what they received, and the group never has to rely on memory.

Above all, Hovia brings peace of mind. Members log in to see their full contribution history and what they still owe, and email notifications keep everyone informed in the group's own currency. Treasurers can produce a clear, printable report in seconds, with every direct payment marked as confirmed, pending or disputed. Members can see exactly where their money went, which strengthens the trust that holds a benevolence group together. And when your group is ready to grow, you can open enrollment: prospective members apply on Hovia's public Join a Group page with the documents you ask for, your admins accept, waitlist or decline each application, and accepted applicants are added as members automatically. Whether your group has twenty members or two thousand, Hovia handles the bookkeeping so your group can focus on caring for its members.
